RCT 2010 MARMOTTE RACE & CLASSIC CLIMBS CYCLING TRIP MARMOTTE RACE & CLASSIC CLIMBS TRIP COST: $2850 per person sharing a twin or double room * SINGLE SUPPLEMENT: $750
|
REILLY CYCLING TOURS is offering a unique cycling trip centered around the "cyclosportive" La Marmotte race (a.k.a. the toughest one-day amateur bike race in the world!). We will provide an in-depth study of the Marmotte race course broken up over two days, with a final goal of having all of our clients finish the race. The remainder of the cycling will be geared towards getting everyone in top shape to race their best in the Saturday event. All of our guides are La Marmotte alumni and can provide you with detailed descriptions of the race and answer any questions you may have. Our trip is based out of the beautiful alpine village of Villard-Reculas, just four kilometres from Alpe d'Huez, and in the mecca of international cycling. Take this chance to ride some of the most magnificent cycling terrain in the world, and challenge yourself with a truly life-changing race experience in a fully supportive trip environment.
ACCOMMODATION & MEALS at CHALET "Il Fera Beau Demain"
As you can imagine with this name ("Tomorrow the Weather will be Beautiful"), it is nearly always sunny in Villard-Reculas, an idyllic little mountain village in the French Alps, situated at 1550 meters altitude on the south side of Alpe d'Huez. The area is world-famous for both skiing and cycling. Our chalet "Il Fera Beau Demain" is a charming and comfortable base for your cycling tour in the Alps. All apartments in "Il Fera Beau Demain" have televisions, music centers, and kitchenettes. Fresh bed linens and towels are provided to complete your home away from home. Relaxed, french gourmet meals are taken as a group in the chalet's cozy restaurant, "Bonsoir Clara", where the resident chef uses the best local produce. The chalet is also home to a gorgeous spa on the lower level, including a pool, sauna, and outdoor jacuzzi on the terrace.
GUIDED CYCLING
Our Reilly Cycling guides have been riding the challenging alpine routes of the Marmotte race course for several years now, and are therefore very familiar with the terrain. All rides are led by our professional cycling guides and program organizers: Fintan Mc Cormac, David Weiss, Leonie Wall, Michael Weiss, and Robin Beckerman, and they will be happy to answer any questions you may have about the race.
SAG WAGONS & MECHANIC
Reilly Cycling Tours has an ever-present sag wagon on every single ride, thus ensuring that guests are comfortable at all times. The sag wagon provides guests with power food, sports drinks, and water bottles throughout the cycling day, and anyone is welcome to jump in at any point to just relax and enjoy the scenery! RCT staff all have training in bicycle mechanics to help you build your bike on the first day, break it down on the last, and provide any mechanical assistance you may need on the road in-between.
RCT JERSEY & SWAG
Reilly Cycling Tours guests will receive an RCT jersey and team T-shirt.
OFF THE BIKE
Late afternoons are a time to explore the trails around Villard-Reculas, watch the Tour de France finish on television, relax and enjoy a glass of wine (and the view!) on the deck, take photographs of the stunning alpine scenery, or practise your French with our French friends and neighbours. The spa in the lower level of the chalet is always open, and we highly recommend using it to soothe your tired muscles at the end of the day. Massage services are available on request.
