2018 Mallorca, Spain Cycling Tour
2017 Famous Climbs of France & Marmotte Cyclosportif
Dates: June 28-July 5, 2017
Set in the stunning village of Villard-Reculas, on the backside of Alpe d'Huez mountain, our trip will introduce you to the most famous alpine mountain passes of the Tour and guide you through the Marmotte Cyclosportif - a rite of passage in Europe and a test of endurance over a series of French alpine cols. The race start line is our home base Bourg d'Oisans and the course takes you around 174km and 5,000 meters of altitude gain. Exceptional chef-prepared meals and some of the most beautiful scenery you can witness on a bike are there for the taking. Our wonderful five-star chalet will play host to us all for a week we will never forget. Watch the Tour in person, ride the course itself, and enjoy some amazing food and wine. There is a reason we keep going back again and again: you just never get tired of riding these mountains!
THE RCT ALPINE STAGES CYCLING TRIP INCLUDES:
REILLY CYCLING TOURS will provide a unique cycling holiday centered around the most famous cycling race in the world. We are based in the alpine village of Villard-Reculas, just four kilometers from Alpe d'Huez. GUIDED CYCLING & RACE PREPARATION
We will supply you with support on race day, and give you every advantage possible to ensure you get to the finish line. If you've never ridden in a Cyclosportif in Europe, this is your chance and this is the event to try! Join 7,000 cyclists on an epic journey to find out what you're made of!
ACCOMMODATION & MEALS at CHALET "Il Fera Beau Demain"
As you can imagine with this name ("Tomorrow the Weather will be Beautiful"), it is nearly always sunny in Villard-Reculas, an idyllic little mountain village in the French Alps, situated at 1550 meters altitude on the south side of Alpe d'Huez. The area is world-famous for both skiing and cycling. Our chalet "Il Fera Beau Demain" is a charming and comfortable base for your cycling tour, pre- and post-race experience in the Alps. Each apartment has televisions, music centers, and kitchenettes. Fresh bed linens and towels are provided to complete your home away from home. Relaxed, french gourmet meals are taken as a group in the chalet's cozy restaurant, "Bonsoir Clara", where the resident chef uses the best local produce. The chalet is also home to a gorgeous spa on the lower level, including a pool, sauna, and outdoor jacuzzi on the terrace to relax and refresh your legs from racing!
Reilly Cycling Tours offers challenging cycling every day on the greatest alpine routes of the Tour de France: Col du Glandon, Col de la Croix de Fer, Col du Galibier, Col du Lautaret, Col de la Madeleine, Col d'Ornon, Col du Telegraphe, la Berarde, and of course, Alpe d'Huez. We ride many of these mountains every year, regardless of whether they are included on this year's Tour de France route. All rides are led by our professional cycling guides and program organizers:
SAG WAGONS & MECHANIC
Reilly Cycling Tours has an ever-present sag wagon on every single ride, thus ensuring that guests are comfortable at all times. The sag wagon provides guests with power food, sports drinks, and water bottles throughout the cycling day and along the race course where we can, and anyone is welcome to jump in at any point to just relax and enjoy the scenery! RCT staff all have training in bicycle mechanics to help you build your bike on the first day, break it down on the last, and provide any mechanical assistance you may need on the road in-between.
OFF THE BIKE
Late afternoons are a time to explore the trails around Villard-Reculas, watch the Tour de France finish on television, relax and enjoy a glass of wine (and the view!) on the deck, take photographs of the stunning alpine scenery, or practice your French with our French friends and neighbors. The spa in the lower level of the chalet is always open, and we highly recommend using it to soothe your tired muscles at the end of the day. Massage services are available on request.
